Not too long ago, I went to Wisconsin to visit my best friend, Tran. She moved there in June with her Fiancé because he had a new job opportunity there. Emily, my other best friend, decided it was time to see her. So, we decided to come up for the weekend and explore her new town together! Now then, I am sharing with you my trip and adventures. As you can see, I like doing themes and color schemes which is why most of these pictures are blueish.
THE DRIVE UP
The trip wasn’t long at all. Only took a little less than 3 hours. Even with the rain. There was a huge rain storm and tornado watch when we left Iowa City. It poured the whole time and flooded a lot of streets we had to use. It poured so hard that my windshield whippers couldn’t keep up! I would describe it as driving without glasses.
VISIT TO THE CAPITAL
This has to be my favorite part of the trip. They turned it into a tourist site and a little museum inside. It was breath taking. The detail was beautiful and amazing to look at. My favorite part was getting to go up to the very top and walk out on the observation deck. It was beautiful seeing the top of the city surrounded by Lake Monona.
THE BEST ICE CREAM I’VE EVER HAD
I was a little skeptical about it at first. I think all ice cream tastes good so I was shocked when I had a taste from the Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream shop. There were so many different kind of flavors. I think it tasted so god because of the so called famous Wisconsin cream. I can’t wait to eat here again!
NOT HAVING PHONE SERVICE
For some odd reason, I didn’t have internet OR service down there. Only when I was at my friends apartment. I ended up looking through a book that was similar to a brochure or a city map. It gave my friends and I a few ideas on what to do next!
A FULL DAY OF PLANS
I don’t sleep well away from home. Not that I’m home sick but because I’m not comfortable. So I was super tired each day and only got a few hours of sleep. I ended up resorting to coffee, which I hadn’t had for over 6-months.
I have never seen such a large body of water where I couldn’t see the other side. This lake wasn’t even the biggest either. There was another one North of it. It was so beautiful and BLUE. We went out on the water and drank a little.
NEW STORES AND NEW CLOTHES
My friend and I went to the mall to check out the stores. There were some stores we had in Iowa City but they were much bigger there. We ended up at H&M and I bought a few things that I’m really happy with! Ended up wearing them the next few days.
AFTERNOON BY THE POOL
My friend has this gorgeous apartment with an outdoor pool, hot tub, and fire pit. It was a little cloudy and cool out the whole weekend, except our last day. Was bright and sunny. We got up and laid out by the pool. Even swam a little which I haven’t done in years. Felt so good to have a relaxing day after an action packed weekend!
Madison, Wisconsin is so pretty and unique. The streets aren’t your typical t-section. There’s like 5 or 6 streets all crossing. The buildings were skinny and then got wider and wider. Honestly, I can’t wait to go back and visit! Have you traveled here before?
